6 Days Road Trip from Bangalore
Towards Tamilnadu and Kerala
This is a blog based on the experience of a planned and well executed 6 days bike ride to different destinations in Tamilnadu and Kerala. Anybody looking for a perfect break can plan something similar.
Day 1(Bangalore-Madurai) 450kms
With all good preparations as per your requirements, start the trip from Bangalore early in the morning. Suggested time is 5-5.30AM. You can plan for breakfast, tea breaks and lunch at convenient places. There are good restaurants at Krishnagiri, Salem, Karur and other places. You can reach Madurai by 2-3 PM, as the road is a 4 and 6 lane highway throughout.
Once you reach lookout for a hotel to stay near the Meenakshi temple; or book in prior to avoid last minute hassles. After freshening up you can visit the temple which is open from 4pm to 9pm. After darshana, you can explore the city, have dinner and go to bed.
Day 2(Madurai-Rameshwaram-Kanyakumari) 175+300kms
Start the day two early by 5am. As the distance to be covered is more, starting early becomes the key. Head towards Rameswaram; have breakfast on the way or at Rameswaram. Take Darshan at Rameswaram temple and head towards Dhanushkodi which is 20kms away. Enjoy the beauty of the nature and get back to Rameswaram by 1pm. Have lunch at Rameswaram and start towards Kanyakumari. As the road is two lane for almost 150kms, reach the highway before it gets dark. Book a hotel online near the beach at Kanyakumari, have dinner and reach Kanyakumari by 10pm and take rest.
Day 3(Kanyakumari-Tiruvanantapuram) 100kms
Wake up to beautiful sunrise at Kanyakumari, have breakfast and explore Vivekananda memorial, beach, temple, church. Have lunch at Kanyakumari and start towards Tiruvanantapuram. On the way, visit Azimala shiva temple which has a beautiful Shiva sculpture. Book a hotel near Anantapadmanabha temple at Tiruvanantapuram. Reach Tiruvanantapuram by 7pm. Explore the city, have dinner and take rest.
Day 4(Tiruvanantapuram-Jatayupura-Aleppey) 150kms
Wake up early and take Darshana at Tiruvanantapuram. There are 3-4 schedules for Darshan starting at 3.30 AM. Choose a convenient schedule. After Darshana have breakfast and start towards Aleppey by 11am. On the way visit Jatayu Earth’s Centre which is within 50kms. Enjoy the rope car, Jatayu sculpture and museum. Have lunch and head towards Aleppey; reach by 6pm. You can book a boat house stay or normal hotel based on your budget for the night’s stay.
Day 5(Aleppey-Coimbatore) 240kms
Start early by 7am and head towards Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore. Have breakfast and lunch on the way. Book a hotel nearby Isha Yoga Centre or check their own stay. Reach by 1pm and rest. Visit Isha Yoga Center by 4pm and enjoy the divinity. Watch the laser show at 7.30, have dinner and get back to the stay.
Day 6(Coimbatore-Bangalore) 360kms
The last day and heading back home. Start by 7am have breakfast and lunch on the way and reach Bangalore by 4pm.
